How Do I Set Up Call Forwarding?

Use CallChimps to Answer Calls When You Are Unavailable (Call Forwarding)

Forwarding call from a UK landline

If you’re trying to redirect calls from a UK landline, you have two options:

  1. Forward calls if you don’t answer within 15 seconds
  2. Forward calls if you are on another call (engaged)

The following steps (from BT) will enable this.

  1. Press * followed by 61 (to forward calls if not answered within 15 seconds), or 67 (to forward calls if engaged)
  2. Press * followed by the phone number to divert to (enter your CallChimps number here)
  3. Press #

For example, if your new CallChimps number is 12345678, and you want to use this to answer calls you don’t answer within 15 seconds, you would pick up your landline and dial *61*12345678#

Forwarding calls from a Mobile

It is worth noting that calls will only divert when your mobile phone is in an area with mobile phone coverage.

For guaranteed call handling, we recommend providing your customers with your CallChimps number to call directly.

Forwarding calls from an iPhone

Unfortunately, iPhones do not allow conditional call forwarding to be controlled via the phone, but your mobile phone carrier (to whom you pay your phone bill) may offer this capability. Each carrier has a different approach to this, so contact their support or search their help section for more details.

Alternatively, you can forward all calls, by using the following steps.

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone
  2. Click Phone to open call settings
  3. Click Call Forwarding to toggle call forwarding on – this is turned on when the toggle is move to the right
  4. Click Forward To
  5. Then enter your new CallChimps number
  6. Once you’ve put your number in, just tap the back button and your changes will save automatically

Diverting calls from an Android phone

  1. Open the Phone app on your phone
  2. Tap the three-dot icon (normally in the top-right)
  3. Click Setting to open call settings
  4. Click Calls
  5. Click Call Forwarding
  6. Chose which option you want to use for forwarding:
    1. Always Forward – all calls will be forwarded to this number until you deactivate this
    2. When Busy – calls will be forwarded when you are on the phone to someone else (engaged)
    3. When Unanswered – calls will be forwarded after 15 seconds
    4. When Unreachable – calls will be forwarded when your phone is off
  7. Enter your new CallChimps number
  8. Once you’ve put your number in, click Turn On to activate this
  9. You can deactivate this by going through the same process and turning off the relevant option from the Call Forwarding
